I've got a old install I'd like to get updated, and at the same time move to a new server, I'd like to avoid trying to inplace upgrade Debain 9 to 12 and just start with a fresh install on 12 on a new server. Not sure what the best option is to handle it.

1. My original thought was set up the new server and install IRedmail 1.6.2 and Iredmailadmin-pro 5.2 (the same versions as on the current server), import the databases and move the mailboxes across then go through the iredmail/admin upgrade steps on the new server
2. Install the latest versions on the new server, then on the old server run the SQL queries from the upgrade guides for each version so the database should be compatible with the new version and I can then move the database to the new server along with the mailboxes.

I think I got behind on updates because it was getting hard to keep up with package updates being on such an old Debian install.

Ah just reread the migration guide https://docs.iredmail.org/migrate.to.ne … erver.html and noticed it actually mentions option 2, which I'd managed ot skip over reading a several times.

Re: Migrate to new sever and update at the same time.

I want to update an old installation while moving to a new server. I would prefer to start over with a fresh install of Debain 12 on the new server rather than attempting to upgrade Debain 9 to 12. I'm not sure how best to deal with it.
