Topic: Help test iRedMail-0.6.1 with Ubuntu 10.04 support

Hi, all.

We need your help to test the latest iRedMail, which focus on supporting Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid, LTS). Please download it here directly and help test it with  Installation guide.

We already tested it with Ubuntu 10.04 (x86_64 edition), currently, most of components are working as expected, but two issuses remained:

  • Apache doesn't work with SSL.

  • You must run 'freschclam' manually before sending or receiving emails.

There may be more issues, please help test it and feedback in our forum.
While reporting issues, don't forget to tell us which arch you used (i386 or x86_64).

Thanks very much. smile

Re: Help test iRedMail-0.6.1 with Ubuntu 10.04 support

Interesting, iRedMail installs phpLDAPadmin from Ubuntu 10.04 official repository, but it's a little old.
I will make it use phpLDAPadmin-1.2.x later. Thanks for your feedback. smile

THKS.

Re: Help test iRedMail-0.6.1 with Ubuntu 10.04 support

In reference to the phpldapadmin discussion in this thread, according to what I can see the phpldapadmin package in Ubuntu 10.04 is already 1.2.0.5

mikey@mikey-laptop:~$ apt-cache showpkg phpldapadmin
Package: phpldapadmin
Versions:
1.2.0.5-1ubuntu1.10.04.1 (/var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid-updates_universe_binary-i386_Packages)

Which brings me to a question.  Does iRedMail ALWAYS use distribution packages?  Or will it install a different compiled version at times?  And if so does it following the distribution packaging standard (deb, rpm)?

Thanks for the great work!

iRedMail tries to ALWAYS use official binary packages, but sometimes it's not possible.

iRedMail uses official binary packages on Ubuntu 10.04, except Roundcube webmail (0.3.1).

I saw that after reviewing the scripts but thank you for the reply!  But does that mean Roundcube would be installed as a deb you created for Ubuntu or just the files copied to the file system?

You do a tremendous job with this project and being attentive to user questions, bug reports, fixes, etc.

Again, thank you for all the hard work!  What can I do to help?

Roundcube.deb (0.3.1) in Ubuntu 10.04 doesn't have "/plugins/" directory which is part of roundcube official source code, we don't want to ship a seperated "plugins" tarball for Ubuntu 10.04, so we just install/deploy Roundcube-0.3.1 with roundcube official source tarball to make our life easier, like on other linux distributions which we support.
