do we have some documentation on what NOT to do?
maybe we could have some kind of wiki-site for that?

example:

debian 6 + dovecot 2
install of irm
uninstall dovecot smile
bash iRedMail.sh
....nothing...
rm .iRedMail.installation.status
bash iRedMail.sh
reboot
