Re: Backup mx not recieving mails

You should know when mails will be sent to backup mx.

If primary mail server is down/unreachable, others' mail servers will try connecting backup mx.

Do you have proper DNS records for both primary server and backup mx? Backup MX should has lower priority. e.g. primary server has priority 10, then backup mx should has priority larger than 10, for example, 20. Larger priority number means lower priority.

Yea, proper dns records and ports on firewall are double checked.

Primary won't contact backup mx at all, it won't forward emails to backup mx too.

Mail server will connect to primary server by default, if primary server is down, e.g. network unreachable, server down, etc, it will contact your backup mx instead. Backup mx will accept all emails by default, and check whether primary server is up again. When primary server is up, backup mx will forward all received emails to primary server.
