iRedMail is support MS outlook address book.

I have create a user www@demo.iredmail.org in iRedMail Demo , the pass: iredmail  ( you can test use the below example, I have suuess run it in outlook 2010)  in outlook can not setting filter.

first you need open the 389 port in iptables let outlook search ldap address book.

then add ldap address  book in outlook

Server name: input server domain name or Ip address

User name : mail=www@demo.iredmail.org,ou=Users,domainName=demo.iredmail.org,o=domains,dc=iredmail,dc=org
pass: iredmail

you need custom search base
domainName=demo.iredmail.org,o=domains,dc=iredmail,dc=org

below is setting in outlook 2003 picture.

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

Sick and tired of public webmails like Gmail and Yahoo. Needed to make my own. Works well with dynamic DNS (zoneedit) and my ISP's smtp for outgoing. And it's web based, all running in virtual environment. 100% future proof.
Thanks for the good job.

hmm, why am I interested? well basically aside from its easy and fast to deploy, the support via forum is great. Almost all my questions are answered.

Yes, forum is a gear resource... to find the answers for the tecnical questions..

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

So yeah. I pretty much love this product. I'm using the free version only on Ubuntu. It was setup FAST (under a half hour to up-and-running). It has many great features and a very responsive community (this forum is awesome).

I cannot speak to migration as yet.

Looking forward to being here a long, looong time.

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

Why am I interested in iRedmail?  In the beginning, I was taking care to postfix but found out that there are too many problems to install successfully. Then iredmail came to my view.  It has all functions you want. And it has so many succeful cases all over the world. Though I experienced some problems during the testing installation(in internal network, get_all.sh doesn't work well., clear_iredmail.sh seems a bit not humanity) , I spend much less time setting up a mail server. I am also satisfied with the online support, very quick response .

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

We have deployed iRedOS with iRedMail 0.6.1 on 3 Xen Virtual servers for 3 separate clients with a total of 100 mail boxes. So far it has been a breeze. Very low maintenance and quick provisioning.

Thanks
Shyamal
P.S. Looking forward to a even easier upgrade to 0.7.0

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

I’m interesting in setting up my own support system, which will enable users/clients to be able to contact me directly. Of course, I could use one of the many free mail solutions, but I want something more efficient, something that’s not stored on anybody else’s medium, and something that gives me a little more control.

Those are my current reasons why I’m interested in iRedMail, of course, I’ve looked at several other solutions, but this so far, looks feasible. Let’s see whether it materialises.

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

Simple.   iRedMail is MUCH easier than configuring a mail server on your own.

Reading pages of docs and configuration options is labor intensive.

iRedMail support is excellent. Questions are answered more efficiently because moderators KNOW the system setup you have, even though it uses dozens of open source software packages.

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

Hi Zhang,

just my 5 cents: beside the easiness of installation it's the community around iRedMail what makes the difference.

It's possible to setup iRedMail equivalent on my own, but I really enjoy the synergy when solving day to day issues.

I don't have time to follow all devel mailing lists of all the components used, solve problems here and there, being forwarded to other components (like it's not problem of X, the error is in Y) etc. The spared time, I try to use to report back about issues and solutions or sometimes even help other admins on the forum.

Thanks for your help!

P.S. I'm not typical email hoster and cannot afford iRedMailPro - so my only trouble with open source iRedMail is the iRedAdmin which is for me unusable. Absolute minimum for me is: multiple admins for multiple domains and administration of users and aliases.

In next release of iRedAdmin-Pro, a normal domain admin can manage multiple mail domains, and is able to mark other mail user as domain admin.

Hi, guys.

I was asked to answer this question, and i want to hear from you.

Why are you interested in iRedMail? write down your opinions below please smile

Why am I interested in iRedMail? Quite a few reasons, actually:

  1. It's amazingly stable and works well in production

  2. It allows me to focus on work (software development) instead of mucking around with the mail server

  3. It makes the sometimes difficult task fo setting up a complete mail system dead simple

  4. It makes me look like a hero to my clients who want a mail server

  5. It allows me to easily expand my business by offering mail hosting for those who need it

  6. It's fun! The possibilities for expansion are limitless. I can make my mail server do all sorts of cool things!

IMHO, iRedMail is one of the most useful pieces of open source software out there. Before committing to going 100% Linux and BSD a few years ago, I'd spent quite a bit of time running Windows mail servers for large companies. I thought there were a few that were really easy to set up. But, honestly, none of them proved as easy as iRedMail. I literally went from zero to a full-featured setup in under twenty freaking minutes. Try that Windows mail server admins!

In case you can't tell, I'm definitely an iRedMail fanboy now. And I'm completely unashamed of being one!

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

Cajuntechie and I are good friends and business associates. Everything he has said about iRedMail mirrors how I feel too. It's a fantastic product and I'm thrilled to have discovered it!

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

I tried iredmail because it's impossible to install postfix/dovecot by yourself.
sadly iredmail is not easy to setup, at last not on centos when it failing to install.
I'll try to find other way to setup a mail server.
One day someone will post the secret configuration file examples of postfix/dovecot so everyone will be able to install it.

I installed iRedMail yesterday because a friend recommended without hesitation.  I am impressed with what I saw and next week I'll be buying a PRO license.

Cheers! Thank you

uses postfix/mysql/dovecot and have intersting features I'm working on mastering like policyD and quotas for sending.

Very good to startup a mail server.

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

I have tried to come up with a #1 reason to run iRedMail.   The list is long and impossible for me to prioritize.

I'm a huge fan of iRedMail, iRedAdmin Pro and the professional support (free and paid) that Zhang Huangbin provides.  I think it's amazing that he is able to support multiple Linux platforms and three data stores.  I imagine this will be much easier now that OpenSUSE with it's very odd config file management is off the support list.

So if I can ignore the awesome support, I'm going to say:

* Stability
* Security
* Scalability
* Maintainability
* Flexibility

In no particular order.

  5. (one of) the right way to build an open source mail server solution? Most components used in iRedMail are provided by Linux distributions officially. it means iRedMail users can get software update support as long time as the distribution itself.

  6. Great customer support via forum? Installation, migration, intergration.
