Hi all,

I followed;
Installing iRedMail And Mailman On Debian Squeeze
http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-ir … ment-30870

installing iRedMail

I was stuck here;

4. Setting up Transport and Alias accounts
...
Click on the "vmail" database in the left panel

I couldn't find "vmail" database there, only "Please select a database".  Whether I need to create it, a new database"?

However on
MySQL 127.0.0.1
Create new database Documentation
Which collation I have to select?

MySQL connection collation: utf8_general_ci

Please advise.  TIA

I'm afraid your iRedMail installation wasn't completed successfully. Was there any error log during installation?
You can find file 'conf/mysql_init.sql' in your iRedMail installation directory, please try to import it instead of re-installing OS and iRedMail.

Hi,

No error message found during installation.

The file is there;
# find / -name mysql_init.sql

/root/iRedMail-0.7.4/conf/mysql_init.sql

where shall I import it?  Thanks

Re: About configuring iRedMail

If you're not familiar with MySQL and mail server, i suggest re-installing OS, then install iRedMail by following installation guide strictly.

Installation guides are available here: http://www.iredmail.org/doc.html

This is a virtual machine running Oracle VirtualBox as virtualizer.  The original OS, debian 6.0, was installed about 3~4 days before running as VM which is a base OS.  I cloned a new VM for testing iRedMail.

I reconfigured iRedMail running "# bash iRedMail.sh" according to;
http://www.iredmail.org/install_iredmail_on_debian.html

but without luck.

# ls /var/lib/mysql/

amavisd          ib_logfile0  mysql               postfixpolicyd
debian-5.1.flag  ib_logfile1  mysql_upgrade_info  roundcubemail
ibdata1          iredadmin    phpmyadmin

vmail is NOT there.

It is on;
# ls /var/vmail/

sieve  vmail1

I already succeeded installing postfix on another VM which was also cloned on the said original OS.

Re: About configuring iRedMail

- There should be some error message if MySQL didn't import SQL template, but we don't have error log now. So it's hard for me to troubleshoot.
- /var/vmail/vmail1 is used to store mailboxes, not MySQL database.

Is it ok for you to install a FRESH, minimal Debian OS with VirtualBox and give it another try? I think it will make things easy.
