Topic: Outlook 2013 special folders - "xlist" functionality

Hi folks

Does anyone have any experience setting up IMAP accounts in Outlook 2013? I'm struggling to set special folders (Sent, Trash, etc) to be saved on the server.

From this article: http://www.outlook-tips.net/tips/tip-10 … s-folders/

"Outlook 2013 gets the Sent Items folder from the XLIST command and falls back to the local Sent Items folder if the IMAP server does not support XLIST."

I have checked this myself and Outlook 2013 indeed does not provide the option of setting special folders on the server!

I'm guessing that the "xlist" functionality would be part of Dovecot, but there seems to be very little talk about it on the internet (apart from people complaining about this "feature" of Outlook 2013).

I'd be interested in hearing from other iRedmail users who are using IMAP in Outlook 2013.

Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt,

Does this work for you? http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/201 … 68070.html

Hi Zhang

Is that for dovecot 2? We are running dovecot 1.2.17 right now.

Sorry, not quite sure whether it works on Dovecot-1.2.17 or not. You can setup a new iRedMail server with a virtual machine (Xen/KVM/VMware/etc) to test it. If it doesn't work with Dovecot-1.2.x, you can consider upgrading to Dovecot-2 instead.

I'd like to upgrade to Dovecot 2, is it a painless process?
