Topic: Wanting to allow iRedMail to be used as a relay for a specific IP

I am getting the following message:
Relay access denied

I have got a VPS running Postfix mail server on a remote address from my iRedMail server, on that VPS I wanted to allow for any mail coming from any application to be allowed to send mail through (relayhost) my server running iRedMail.

The logs are as below, using relayhost = emailrelayer.mydomain.com (the one running iRedMail) and using app settings would this alone allow me to use my iRedMail server as a relayhost at all?

I am a little bit confused about what I need to be setting up in iRedMail.

Any help's much appreciated, see below for full logs.

Jeremy

Did you try to append IP address of your remote VPS in Postfix parameter "mynetworks=" on iRedMail server?

Re: Wanting to allow iRedMail to be used as a relay for a specific IP

I did actually, but getting so bogged down with all the changes.

If I was to add an app to my VPS like an ecommerce platform say (like Magento or whatever app that was) when I logged into the email server running iRedMail, would that work then for that config?

That's  more defined for that application rather than the whole server wouldn't it?

If I was to do the whole server I would have to go through the usual login stuff within Postfix would not I? What would the implications be if I allowed the whole server to somehow  bypass those login details? Is that even possible without breaking any security at all?

I am new to this as I have never had a VPS and just need a little guidance on that do's and don't and also how to do that.

But yes  in a nutshell  I did but wiped it, it still said access denied as the reason why I removed it.

Thanks and I look forward to any further replies or advice,
J

Hi J,

I'm so sorry that i don't quite understand what you did and what error message you got.

Oh no it's fine now, well just moved my mail server to a VPS works really well, just trying to sort out what was my old mail server into a virtual hosting for a sandbox inhouse (what fun).

Kind regards,
Jeremy

Was this the solution.

Have a VPS with MailMan on it accessible via private IP and want to relay inbound mail from IredMail VPS to the Mailman vps and the have mailman relay back through public IP of iRedMail?   What is the best practice for this and should be done in the main.cf for relays.  Have that set for the Mailman but appears to not be relaying.

This does not seem appropriate for couple reasons: distro and differnet VPS.
