Re: Dovecot Mail Loop

Could you please post the output of 'postconf -n' command?

Thank you for the request and I understand the need. I prefer not to post this information in an open forum.

I would have to replace the domain names and IP addresses in that output to protect our interests and that would change the entire ability to find the problem.

Is there anything that you see that could point me in the problem direction?

Jerry

Re: Dovecot Mail Loop

This issue has been tracked down to bad / errant smtp software on the sending side.

The mail loop errors occur on every message that already has Delivered-To: headers in it. It appears there is no way to fix this problem when using dovecot postfix and the pipe delivery mechanism. pipe bounces the message because it has already been delivered according to the Delivered-To: header.

This problem does not exist with postfix - courier.
This issue is really a support problem in our business, the bounces cause customer calls and they feel they are losing email.

Jerry

EDIT

Solution
Replace the header
/^Delivered-To:.*/ REPLACE X-Bad-Delivered-To: removed
