Topic: How to recover mailboxes content from old Server!?!

Hello,

After our mail server crash due to filesystem curruption [impossible to recover], we've managed to build a new server with iRedMail in order to get the service back the soon as possible. Well, back to the old server [Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala], the only way we can access data is with the help of a live CD. Well, is it possible to export old mailboxes content to the new server [cur folder content]? Is it a straight forward operation or there is some modifications to get it done?

Thanks.

BTW, iRedMail works just fine!

Do you know where the mailboxes are located?
Just copy those folders to the folder structure of iredmail mailbox accounts and then you might need to change permission settings.
Create a dummy account first in iredmail and copy a sample mailbox. Also note the permissions inside the iredmail folders.

Mail messages are stored in Maildir format (one message one file), so you can copy old mailboxes to new server directly. But you need to make sure they're copied to correct maildir path.
