Topic: Not able to access iRedMail on VM

==== Required information ====
- iRedMail version: .0.8.6
- Store mail accounts in which backend (LDAP/MySQL/PGSQL): MySQL
- Linux/BSD distribution name and version: Debian 7.4
- Related log if you're reporting an issue:
====

I have found out that I am not going to be able to install iRedMail on my main OS due to conflicting issues.

So I am attempting to install on an VM (Both OS's are Debian 7.4)

I installed with no issues, but am unable to connect.

My network is xyz not xyz.com.. I honestly believe that is the problem, but am unsure if I can do that (I wish to keep all of the linux PC's on that if possible).

After install, it told me to goto httpS://Mail-Server.xzy/mail/ = why I believe is why me not doing xzy.com is the problem.

Anyhow I went to ports and it says iRedMail is assigned to 127.0.1.1 - I try to goto it and it redirects me to 127.0.1.1/mail

In end, I would like to attach iRedMail gui to the main OS's website (As this is on a VM) so I can obviously connect to it outside of the network.

*) What do you mean "unable to connect"?
*) Does it work if you access web applications with IP address instead of your domain name?
*) Is your domain name solvable in DNS?

False alarm. I had to restart for another purpose but this seems to be working now (at least on the vm).

So I am able to go to 127.0.1.1 which redirects me to 127.0.1.1/mail which is the roundcube login page. And I am also able to go to https://Mail-Server.xyz/mail (same for iredadmin). But I am not able to goto https://xyz.com/mail (not found, since nothing is there on the main server).

How do I create a "link" so the main OS knows to look on the vm? I am sure this is a basic function of linux, but I am new to linux w/ only a few months exp.

Thanks for the help.

*) Does your Apache web server serve xyz.com on this server? Check your Apache virtual host setting please.
*) If you already have Apache virtual host configured for xyz.com, do you have its DNS A record pointed to this server?

*) Yes I serve xyz.com on the server but on the main OS (where iRedMail is on the VM, so the answer is probably no?)
*) Yes I have godaddy pointing to my server. When I goto xyz.com, I am shown my site and all, which is located on the main OS under /var/www/xzy.com/*

*) Did you forward web traffic to VM on your main OS?
