Users are reporting the following problem:
aaa@ourdomain.com emails to someone@otherdomain.com which auto forwards to bbb@ourdomain.com.

aaa@ourdomain.com gets  Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

  bbb@ourdomain.com
    (ultimately generated from  someone@otherdomain.com)

Any ideas why and how to fix?

Mail domain 'webshield.net.au' is hosted on your server, so if other servers sent email as sender "xxx@webshield.net.au", that must be spam because it forges the sender address. That's why Postfix on your server rejected the forwarded email. The solution is, please disable this forwarding circle.

In your case, it's caused by forwarding without SRS on server 'otherdomain.com'. SRS will rewrite sender address to something like '[yyy]@otherdomain.com' ([yyy] contains original sender 'someone@ourdomain.com'). But Postfix doesn't have a handy module/library/milter for SRS, so i guess mail admin of 'otherdomain.com' doesn't implement SRS. And iRedMail doesn't.

Implemented SRS on other (cpanel) server which has resolved this issue.
