HI,

I have install iRedMail and it is very good, but I am getting huge amounts of spam.

I have been looking at the X-Spam-Score headers of the spam arriving in my inbox and they show low numbers (like 1 - 3.5) so they are not being marked as spam when the contents of them shows they quite obviously are.

Any help would be most welcome!

Edit:

I have set up the Bayes filter with MySQL as outlined on your wiki and I am running sa-learn with my spam folder right now so that it learns.

How can I tell if incoming mail is being scanned with the Bayes filter?

1) Try to enable DNSBL in Postfix to reduce spam. e.g. zen.spamhaus.org.
2) Decrease the spam score setting in Amavisd to catch more spam. major parameters are:

$sa_tag2_level_deflt
$sa_kill_level_deflt

Thank you, I will try DNSBL.

How can I tell if my bayes filter is working? I am letting it learn ham and spam from over 30,000 messages at the moment.

Did you check its SQL database?

Hi,

Yes, it took a few hours to scan all the emails, but it is now starting to work.

I lowered the spam threshold by 1 and it is catching 99% of the spam now.
