I recently purchased a free class 1 ssl certificate from StartSSL. I am relatively new to this and was hoping for some guidance. I am strictly running a mail server on a basic Amazon EC2 instance and the certificate is registered to the mail sub-domain. I have tried to modify the postfix/main.cf and dovecot.conf files to recognize the SSL certificate and I am able to log into the incoming server through, but the SMTP server fails due to encryption. I am using port 587 and I tried every combination (Auto, SSL, TLS, None). I only changed the smtpd parameters.. Do I need to make changes to the smtp parameters? Any ideas?

Re: SSL Certificate

Can you tell me your mail server domain [with subdomain] and I'll check the SSL Certificate on it to see what the issue you're having is
if you'd prefer, e-mail it to me at postmaster _at_ webdevguru.co.uk

Edit, in the .pem file you're using (not the key file)
did you concat 3 certificates

Your Personal SSL Certificate
Intermediate Certificate
Root Certificate

[the last two can be downloaded from the StartSSL toolbox]
