Topic: Any way to install iredmail on a web server without fucking it up?

Today I installed IRedMail on my web server and it totally fucked everything up. I removed it entirely. But at this point, apache2 was already so screwed that even reinstalling apache2 wouldn't work. I had to reinstall Ubuntu entirely on my server thanks to the destructive nature of IRedMail. Can someone recommend me a way to install this "software" on a server without causing it to implode? Thanks!!!

Well, iRedMail is not really intended to be installed on an existing system already in use as a web server.

On this page what iRedMail package does in Ubuntu is clearly explained:

Follow the instructions, they are actually very good. iRedMail has a great documents section that explains how to do almost anything you want to do with it.

If you really want to put your apache sites on the same server with iRedMail, you should probably deploy iRedMail first and then alter the configs as necessary to get your web sites up. It will be much easier than trying to do it the other way around.

The video may be not clear about the requirement. I suggest you try it this way:

*) install a clean/fresh server first.
*) Install iRedMail
*) Migrate your web site and databases to iRedMail server.
