Hi there,

I'm having a problem where my /var/log/mail.log file is creating another file on top of it, so my current mail.log will be mail.log.1, I have a reporting setup that checks my mail.log file everyday, since the postfix creates another mail.log file, when the tool runs, it's not reporting the exact numbers. What do you think is the cause of postfix creating another mail.log file? Thank you.

It's called logrotate. Run command "man logrotate" and read its manual will help you understand what it is, what it does.
