Hello i got something i would like to share:
I have for example 2 domains
- salt.be
- pepper.be
Know i created 1 emailbox for salt -> info@salt.be ... No problems so far :-)
When i login to roundcube with info@salt.be there is an option identity, that is the place where you can add other email domains.
So what i did is i add an other identity what i would creat emails from.
-> info@pepper.be
After this i can choose from what domain name i am using to send 1 email. (Again no problems here)
But when i create a custom application and it needs to send some emails in the name of pepper the problems kicks in.
I use the login for Salt to send emails from info@pepper.be (because i added 1 identity)
This returns: <info@pepper.be>: sender address rejected: not owned by user info@salt.be
So this is what i do not understand
With iredmail webmail i can send mails from pepper.be but external tool with authentication i can't.
When i send emails in name from salt.be -> there is no problem at all.
Extra info:
I own both domains, on iredmail !
my questions are:
1) what is the best practice here ?
2) What is the purpose of using identiy in roundcube ?
Kind regards,
Kris
