I'm (happy) working with iredmail-0.9.3, MySQL backend from a year, more or less, starting with iredmail 0.9.2. Can I migrate from MySQL to MariaDB or there are some contraindications?

Of course you can migrate from MySQL to MariaDB. It should be as easy as a simple export (mysqldump) and import.
