The log in iredapd.log doesn't mean the real relay, you need to check Postfix log file (/var/log/maillog) to make sure those emails were sent out.

By the way, enable iRedAPD plugin 'reject_null_sender' will help in your case. Also, it's recommended to upgrade iRedAPD to the latest stable release (1.8.0 right now). Reference:

Upgrade iRedAPD 1.8.0 can be stable for IredMail 0.8.7 .

Server iRedMail 0.8.7 is running for many customer. I'm afraid of ugrade iRedMail 0.9.4 affect customers.
I suggest install new server iRedMail 0.9.4 . How to move database, mailbox from server iRedMail 0.8.7 to new server iRedMail 0.9.4 .

*) Upgrading iRedMail from 0.8.7 to 0.9.4 is not hard, i suggest checking our upgrade tutorials first.
*) To migrate iRedMail to a new server, here's tutorial:
