Topic: IP address wildcards

Hi all,

I think I got out of bed wrong this morning, and searches for the answer to this give me a lot of unrelated results. I should probably ask this on a Postfix list, but this is more convenient right now and it's probably an easy question.

When adding an IP address subnet to a blacklist, what is the proper syntax for (for example) a class B range?

1.2.%.%, or
1.2.%

Add white/blacklists for which software?

For Postfix, please check its manual page: access(5). http://www.postfix.org/access.5.html

Hi Zhang,

Thanks. Yes, I saw that page, but it didn't help me, unless the answer can be found by reading the whole thing.

I was basing my question on this text inside iRedAdmin-Pro:

Record format

    IP Address
        Single IP Address: 192.168.10.12
        Subnet: 192.168.10.%

So if I want to block all IP addresses under 192.168, should I use "192.168.%.%", or just "192.168.%"?

Oh, the network addresses used by Postfix and iRedAdmin-Pro (actually used by Amavisd or iRedAPD) are different, please follow the tip in iRedAdmin-Pro.

In this case, you have to use '192.168.%.%'.
