Can you please try to find the detail error message from terminal output? this is not useful for troubleshooting.

I didn't test Virtualbox before, not sure it's a VirtualBox issue or iRedMail issue, or Ubuntu issue.

The problem was with VirtualBox. The iRedMail installed perfectly on a server here.
It is good that it is recorded that there is an incompatibility with VirtualBox, if someone tries to use for testing.

Re: Install problem with Ubuntu 10.04 and MySQL backend - iRedMail 0.6.1

Just finished installing iRedMail on Ubuntu Server 10.04 using VirtualBox. Everything works perfect just need to install iRedAdmin to manage other user(s).

Well, in your case make sure your Ubuntu Server is updated.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Then re-run iRedAdmin installer. Also make sure your VirtualBox networking is set to Bridged if you are using DHCP and I use MySQL Database instead of OpenLDAP. Cheers!

iRedAdmin doesn't support MySQL backend yet. smile

Re: Install problem with Ubuntu 10.04 and MySQL backend - iRedMail 0.6.1

So thats it! No MySQL support at this moment! Now I knew how do i get this.

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) Server at 192.168.1.3 Port 443

So how do i manage email accounts now?

P.S
Documentation for iRedAdmin installation seems to be poor. sad

You can find iRedAdmin installation guide here:
http://www.iredmail.org/doc.html#iredadmin

You can use PostfixAdmin to manage accounts stored in MySQL, it's shipped in iRedMail.

Re: Install problem with Ubuntu 10.04 and MySQL backend - iRedMail 0.6.1

Been fighting with the same problem, doesnt seem to be related to virtualbox but rather some mysql config:

Creating config file /etc/postfix-policyd.conf with new version
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO).
.....
Errors were encountered while processing:
postfix-policyd
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I've checked the the password is set in the config file "export MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWD='tmp12345'".

I'm running ubuntu 10.04.1.

Re: Install problem with Ubuntu 10.04 and MySQL backend - iRedMail 0.6.1

before install iRedMail, do you have install mysql?

* iRedMail is designed to deploy on a FRESH server system, which     *
* means it doesn't have mail related components installed, e.g.      *
* Apache, MySQL, OpenLDAP, Postfix, Dovecot, Amavisd, etc. Otherwise *
* it may override your existing files/configurations althought it    *
* will backup files before modify.

Re: Install problem with Ubuntu 10.04 and MySQL backend - iRedMail 0.6.1

Everything works fine when iredmail installs mysql/apache.

However - some input to ZhangHuangbin; you've got a brilliant packages here but I think
you should focus on the mail part and leave out mysql/php/apache.
