I just have a generic question.
Will I be able to change my sources.list file to stretch and will iRedmail still work?
If not what should be the procedure to go to Debian 9?

Debian 9 is not yet released, and we didn't test it yet, so no comment here.

When it released, we will test iRedMail and support it.

Change jessie to stretch

It did not work update for Debian 9. Many errors occurred mainly with the spamassassin and in the end the postfix also did not initiate. Since my server is virtualized, I returned with the snapshot.

Is it possible for you to clone a VM and do the upgrade, show us all the original error messages?

Yes, I can show. At the moment I'm not in the company but at night I can do the procedure again and then share the results here.

But I have already discovered a bug in the spamassassin package and have already opened a bugreport in Debian.

First problem in migration:

- postfix not start. Log:

postmulti[2240]: fatal: instance /etc/postfix, shlib_directory=/usr/lib/postfix conflicts with instance /etc/postfix, daemon_directory=/usr/lib/postfix

Resolved with comment this lines in main.cf:

#daemon_directory = /usr/lib/postfix
#data_directory = /var/lib/postfix

- dovecot not work. log:

Jun 24 13:05:40 lmtp(3632): Fatal: Invalid ssl_protocols setting: Unknown protocol 'SSLv2'
Jun 24 13:05:40 lmtp(3638): Fatal: Invalid ssl_protocols setting: Unknown protocol 'SSLv2'

Resolved change line in dovecot.conf to:

ssl_protocols = !SSLv3

Still testing the rest.

I had nothing but a big nightmare and frustration getting upgraded from Debian 8 to Debian 9. Dovecot stopped working, Apache stopped working, my certificates stopped being trusted (Totally unrelated to iRedMail, but frustrating enough -- I had a 3 year certificate from WoSign before everyone dropped them as a trusted CA, and their old certificates were grandfathered into being trusted if they were issued before a certain date, now apparently Microsoft and Apple have dropped trust for WoSign as a CA). I also had syntax problems with my old custom Fail2Ban filter files that worked in Debian 8. Debian changed the structure of Modsecurity, they changed to php 7.0 which broke my phpList installation, because the php7.0-imap package wasn't installed by default. I'm still having problems with users who are using Microsoft Outlook, and are unable to connect, but slowly but surely, I'm managing to get everything fixed. I'm now at about 97% working again. I just need to figure out why Outlook clients that used to be able to connect just fine are now completely unable to connect. Yeah... Upgrading has been really frustrating, and this upgrade has been particularly bad.... I know that my experience isn't the same for everyone else across the board, but since we're talking about Debian upgrade issues, I figured that I'd chime in too.
