Topic: Updating packages on FreeBSD

- iRedMail version (check /etc/iredmail-release): 0.9.6 PGSQL edition.
- Linux/BSD distribution name and version: FreeBSD 11.0 jail
- Store mail accounts in which backend (LDAP/MySQL/PGSQL): PGSQL
- Web server (Apache or Nginx): Apache
- Manage mail accounts with iRedAdmin-Pro? no, open source

Hi, I ran 'pkg upgrade' on my mail server today, and after it upgraded all the packages, I could no longer connect via IMAP. The admin panel still worked, and mail sent to the server didn't bounce. I restored a backup, and all is better now, but I would still like to update the packages (especially those with outstanding CVEs).

What is the best way to update packages in FreeBSD without breaking iRedmail?

You should check log files (/var/log/) to figure out why something is broken.

So 'pkg upgrade' is the recommended way to update?
