Topic: Login unable to Roundcube/PostfixAdmin/Awstats - fresh installation

Hi everyone,

I installed iReadMail 0.6.1 on a Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS today.

It's a totally fresh install and I started with a minimal install of Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS.
The only thing I installed before iRedMail was OpenSSH-server and OpenSSH-client.

Everything seems to be fine and I checked that mySQL is running and phpmyadmin is working.
I checked the iRedMail.tips to confirm the passwords.

From roundcube i just got "Login Failed" when I try to login with the www@ address.

When I try to login on PostfixAdmin with the postmaster@ address i got this:

And when I go to https://192.168.1.6/awstats/awstats.pl (192.168.1.6 is the temporary IP of my server)
I first got a login window and when I try to login i got this:

From 'postconf -n' I get this:

config_directory = /etc/postfix
content_filter = smtp-amavis:[127.0.0.1]:10024
mailbox_command = /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver
smtpd_sasl_path = dovecot-auth
smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot
virtual_transport = dovecot


Seems to be fine I think?

Please post original error log in /var/log/mail.log, /var/log/dovecot.log, so that we can help troubleshoot this issue.

So many error messages.
MySQL is not running.
Postfix misses some files.

Did you install iRedMail by following installation guide STRICTLY? any error message during installation?

I can see that it's a lot of errors now, missed to check the logs before...

The only thing I didn't follow strictly was to delete the configfile directly.

I tried to install iRedMail 0.6.1 on a Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS installed with a "standard" CD-rom and than with the miniCD version.

I feel that the easiest way to solve this is to start over again and try to understand what went wrong.
Will update this tread, maybe we all can learn from this.

Hm, just one thing, I remember that I got a line said something like "/etc/postfix/main.cf missing, no directory or file", but then it just installed the rest an I could find that file when I checked for it.

I guess installing a new Ubuntu and iRedMail is easier than troubleshoot them, if possible.

I'm installing Ubuntu now, miniCD and this time with ext4 instead of ext3. Someone said ext4 worked and not RaiserFS, so I'll try that.

Just a wonder, while installing Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS server you'll get a question how you want to configure postfix. Last time I  choose the no configuration alternative, Is that right?

Hi again,

Installed Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS , and didn't even install SSH before installing iRedMail 0.6.1.

During the installation of iRedMail 0.6.1 i got this error like 50 times:
postconf: fatal: open /etc/postfix/main.cf for reading: No such file or directory

I got this line one time:
head: cannot open `/etc/mailname' for reading: No suchfile or directory

After "* iRedMail-0.6.1 installation and configuration complete." I got this:
grep: /etc/ssh/sshd_config: No such file or directory

Then the installation finish.

Okay, for some reason it didn't work last time but now it is.

This is the difference between the first installation that didn't work and the second that worked:

- ext4 instead of ext3
- didn't instal OpenSSH-server/OpenSSH-client before installing iRedMail-0.6.1
- As passwords i just used small letters this time and no special characters, e.g. 1st time "Pa55w0rD!", 2st time "password", for MySQL/postmaster/www
- Finishing the installation with updated firewall rules but didn't start postfix before deleating iRedMail-0.6.1/config
- After deleating iRedMail-0.6.1/config I rebooted the server and then I tried connecting to Roundcube/PostfixAdmin/Awstats and It all worked fine smile
