We use netdata a lot at our servers and can only recommend it.

However, it is not a replacement of AWstats. AWstats is a long term statistics tool and netdata is a short time monitoring tool. netdata stores data for the last hour only. So -in theory- you would have to use both to get the best result.

I agree here. To be honest I even think that netdata is a bit out of scope for iRedMail. It's nice to have realtime system performance graphs but I would make it optional in iRedMail as in many cases other means of monitoring/performance data aggregation will be in place already.

If you search for a more modern alternative for AWstats, did you consider Piwik? Especially for the webmail client, long-time user stats are very interesting and definitely in the scope of iRedMail.

I agree. netdata still requires a backend to store long term statistics, all supported backends are listed on the webpage:

We hope to monitor all major components running on iRedMail, but Piwik is majorly a web server log analyzer. so not an option.
