Topic: Hardware requirements for 1200 mail user's

I want to deploy iRedmail server for 1200 users.

Linux OS: CentOS 7.4
Store backened: PostgreSQL with AD authentication
Web Server: Nginx

Mangement via iRedMail pro will be done

Intel Xeon E5-2698 v4 2.2GHz,
32GB RDIMM 2400MT/s
8 TB 7.2k rpm SATA HDD with RAID 10 configuration

NIC teaming will be configured

Is this hardware sufficient to run mail server for 1200 user's ,, aprox. 50 mails/day/user

Re: Hardware requirements for 1200 mail user's

Depends on what you are going to use.

Wheither or not you're going to use an external PostgreSQL server and make use of SOGo does factor in for the memory usage.
CPU should be more than suffice for a mailserver but I really am doubting the memory with so many active mail users at once.

I'd advise for a failover solution in your case as this seems like a really big production environment unless you're confident in the operationaly of your current setup.

Re: Hardware requirements for 1200 mail user's

The PostgreSQL is on the same server itself but the AD is on another HP server.
Both are on 1Gbps LAN network.
So, is there any issue, I mean delays in opening web-mail or sending mails,, mostly outlook will be used.
But around 30% will access this mail server from outside (WAN) via 10Mbps leased line.

That's about 60000 (1200*50) mails per day. your hardware (most importantly, RAM) should be more than enough.
