Topic: Mailbox won't load into Roundcube/SOGo

I have my a number of email addresses on the server.  Suddenly, neither SOGo nor Roundcube will correctly load my InBox on my main email address.

If I load RoundCube, the screen shows the normal info - On the left, the InBox has 330 unread, shows other Boxes (Sent, Junk, etc).  On the main form it says 'Mailbox is empty'.  If I move to the Drafts box, the Draft emails all show up.

On rare occasion, the InBox will actually load correctly.

Outlook shows all emails.

SOGo hangs trying to load/show the webpage.

I have changed dovecot.conf to include imap_max_line_length = 2M
I have also changed default_vsz_limit to 200M from 64M

I'm not sure what logs to look at - mail.log doesn't seem to show anything abnormal.

The mailbox in question is large (I think the Outlook version is 24G).

So, what logs can I look at; what edits can I make (longer load time if I have a timeout on my slow server, etc.), etc.?

Any error in Dovecot log files?

In /var/log/dovecot/imap.log, I see the following:

Mar 31 15:34:58 server dovecot: imap(myaddr@mydomain.com): Error: mmap() failed with file /var/vmail/vmail1/mydomain.com/a/n/d/myaddr2017.09.07.10.05.56//Maildir/dovecot.index.cache: Cannot allocate memory
(I renamed my actual mailbox/domain)

I reset the default_vsz_limit to 512M

This may have fixed the problem.

I'll keep an eye out for it

Nope, still getting the same error and no loading of the inbox in SOGo/RoundCube.

It loaded once after the change was made in SOGo, but after I logged out of the user and tried to log in, I was unsuccessful.

Same error is displayed in /var/log/dovecot/imap.log

boo-hoo.

What else to try?

How much memory does this server have? Try to increase default_vsz_limit again and restart Dovecot service.

It's a 2GB VPS.

Increasing to 800MB still doesn't fix the problem.

try to rename "dovecot.index.cache" file, Dovecot will recreate it. If no issue to access mailbox, remove the renamed file.

I renamed the file - mail loaded much faster without any issues. Hope it holds.
