Possible Log Issues? DOVECOT.LOG:

dovecot: master: Warning: Killed with signal 15 (by pid=5465 uid=0 code=kill)
ovecot: master: Dovecot v2.2.33.2 (d6601f4ec) starting up for pop3, imap, sieve, lmtp (core dumps disabled)

I have about 20 email addresses in outlook 2016.

Some emails send/receives fail Intermitently from the Outlook 2016 client.
These email fails change all the time. Some will work fine and then they will fail.

POP3 Log shows errors like this for the send/receive emails that fail:

Jun 19 16:13:26 vps444519 dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 75 secs): user=<>, rip=92.5.122.62, lip=50.78.190.22, TLS handshaking: SSL_accept() syscall failed: Success, session=<Cos51a2LV/RcBZs/>
Jun 19 16:14:41 vps444519 dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 75 secs): user=<>, rip=92.5.122.62, lip=50.78.190.22, TLS handshaking: SSL_accept() syscall failed: Success, session=<fBmy2a2Lg/RcBZs/>
Jun 19 16:15:56 vps444519 dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 75 secs): user=<>, rip=92.5.122.62, lip=50.78.190.22, TLS handshaking: SSL_accept() syscall failed: Success, session=<XrEq3q2LrfRcBZs/>

Everything was working fine a day ago so not sure what has made this start to happen.

The ssl's in the dovecot.conf are as follows:

#ssl_protocols = !SSLv2 !SSLv3
ssl_protocols = !SSLv3

ssl = required
verbose_ssl = no
#ssl_ca = </path/to/ca
#ssl_cert = </etc/ssl/certs/iRedMail.crt
#ssl_key = </etc/ssl/private/iRedMail.key
ssl_cert = </etc/letsencrypt/live/mailserver.fife.net/fullchain.pem
ssl_key = </etc/letsencrypt/live/mailserver.fife.net/privkey.pem

And they are linked to:

fullchain3.pem
privkey3.pem

in the archive folder.

Any help appreciated to get this solved.

Many thanks and appreciation.

I also just tried with thunderbird and the send/receive timed out.

Re: Client to iRedMail Intermittent connections

Hi,

Your log shows that the email accounts are using POP3. Outlook client works much better with the exchange protocol. If you have Sogo installed on your server then:

delete the mail account in Outlook, add a new account, select "manual  setup" and when asked for the type of e-mail account, select "exchange".

I use my e-mail account on Outlook 2019 client on windows setup as an exchange account using my iredmail server and it works flawlessly. E-mails, contacts, calendar and tasks are synced perfectly.

Explained here also: https://docs.iredmail.org/activesync.outlook.html

Thanks for the response.

I just deleted all of my emails and set them up again using IMAP.
This still caused a problem until I deselected:

Incoming Server:
Require logon using secure password authentication (SPA)

Its really fast now.

Thanks for the nudge Neutro Much appreciated

(I dont have Sogo by the way) Thanks again.

Re: Client to iRedMail Intermittent connections

You're welcome smile

Imap only sync mail and nothing else so you should use exchange protocol instead to sync calendar, contacts and tasks too.

See here to install sogo, it's easy https://forum.iredmail.org/topic10440-i … stall.html
