Topic: can't receive emails from yahoo.com

I have no problem sending to yahoo.com, gmail and other domains, my only problem is that i can't seem to receive mails from yahoo.com. I don't see any logs in /var/log/maillog. In addition, mails from gmail, yahoo.com.hk and other domains were successfully received by our mail server.

Would appreciate any help to fix this.

In yahoo, the bounced email only says the following:

Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.

The content of the message is irrelevant. You need to check the mail server log to see the reason for it beeing bounced.

The logs are located in /var/log

I hope i get a free game from datablitz for the help big_smile

Thanks Neutro but when i checked /var/log/maillog, i can't see any log related to yahoo.com domain. It is like the mail did not reach my server. Is there other log file that i need to check?

Do you have A, MX DNS records for your mail domain?

I have no idea then. Maybe check network firewall (not the "iptables" firewall on your server).

Thanks ZhangHuangbin. I did a tcpdump when i sent a test mail from my yahoo account and this is what i got. If my analysis is correct, yahoo server has no problem reaching my server but somehow it can't establish connection because i can see the series of S flags in the logs below. Am i correct?

No ZhangHuangbin, i didn't see any log in postfix. Btw, over the weekend, i had a problem with our primary isp so i had to switch traffic to secondary isp. I tried sending test mail from yahoo again and the server received it successfully. I will escalate this issue to our isp provider but knowing the kind of service our isp provides, i'm not sure if they will take time to look into this.

It's more like an ISP issue, not the mail server itself.
