Topic: Strange Greylisting Behaviour

I am experiencing a strange greylisting behaviour. The iredapd policy server result to greylist but the email still goes through without greylisting. See the iredapd log and postfix log entry below.

It seems to only happen with this client. This has happened several times.  Greylisting works on others.

Changes I've made:
1. Apply the fix for https://forum.iredmail.org/topic15836-p … sting.html
2. Turned off "throttle" plugin in /opt/iredapd/settings.py

It seems the greylisting functions has issues so I just disabled it. If you really do not want mail coming in, just black list it

Greylisting plugin correctly returned smtp code "451 4.7.1". I see you changed the rejection text to "Resource temporarily unavailable".

The result seems fine, i don't understand why Postfix didn't reject it temporarily. Did you change ANY iRedAPD settings in /opt/iredapd/settings.py?

Yes I changed the rejection text. My /opt/iredapd/setting.py I removed the "throttle" plugin and added the "whitelist_outbound_recipient" plugin.

With the exception of the sender and client, greylisting is working. I am not sure why Postfix is not rejecting it. I think I'll turn on Postfix debug next to see what is happening.

Here is another iredapd and Postfix log for the same sender different client address. The iredapd.log is missing a bunch of debug.

I think I found the issue. When it did the policy check at smtpd_recipient_restrictions and smtp_end_of_data_restrictions, see logs below, it returned

"DUNNO Error: Invalid sender address: bedbath&beyond@emailbedbathandbeyond.com"

I notice there is a "&" in the address. Is that the cause of the problem?

Per the iredapd log below, it should have been rejected, but it didn't. The email got through away and as you can see from the iredapd.greylisting_tracking DB the passed = 0.

I have the full postfix log if you need that. Let me know.
