I installed iRedmail according to the instructions outlined here:

Looking at my installation today, I find the installed PHP version is very old: PHP 5.4.16

This is a little concerning as there is bound to be security issues with the older versions:
https://www.php.net/eol.php

I have two questions:

1. Should the iRedmail installation script install a more modern version of PHP by default?

2. Can I safely upgrade to a more recent version of PHP?
