Hi all,

Have been using iRedMail for a good 8 months now running on Ubuntu 18.04.3 in a t3.small AWS EC2 instance.

Personal use, only 8 mailboxes. Simple setup.

Now and then the instance would max out on memory usage and crash after 2 or 3 days. I simply put a band aid fix where I cron a restart in the early morning hours.

In an attempt to start troubleshooting this memory issue, I decided to apt update the outstanding packages, one of which I noticed was postfix.

Everything updated, however I noticed that sending wasnt working from Outlook clients and smartphones. Sending email from Roubcube worked though.

I also noticed the SOGOD worker process hitting 50% RAM usage at times.

Sending mail from Outlook clients would not make it to postfix as no entries/errors would make it to mail.log.

Luckily I was able to quickly restore back via AWS Snap and volume detach/reattach so I am back up and running. However would like to know:

1. Should we be looking at updating packages (no updates were security updated). It is likely to break something in my limited experience. Or should we ignore?
2. Is there an recommended way of ensuring the box is completely updated and upgraded to latest versions? Easy Install update?
3. I would like to troubleshoot the post upgrade volume by spinning it up attached to another ec2 instance purely for experience and learning what may have broke during the upgrading of packages. Any ideas where to start woudl be greatly appreciated.

Regards

- How much RAM does this server have?
- Make sure SOGo config file /etc/sogo/sogo.conf is not overwrote after updated SOGo packages. This was reported by many users.

T3.Small in AWS runs at 2Gb. Generally I see 1Gb to 1.3Gb of consistent use. For 8 or so mailboxes I would have thought 2Gb would suffice.

However I do find at times the system crashes with the last screen showing Linux out of memory killer.

With regards to SOGo, would I simply replace the updated config file with the previous version? Has this been reported to work?

Thanks for your assistance.
