==== REQUIRED BASIC INFO OF YOUR IREDMAIL SERVER ====

====

if i use ubuntu's mail command on the command prompt while logged in as root, i can email the account i'm trying to reach, and the mail shows up in roundcube.

but when i try to email from an external (gmail) source, none of my mails arrive.

i've checked the DNS records through https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?ac … n=toolpage and the correct IP shows up.
but when i use the SMTP check on that mxtoolbox.com, it shows that it could not connect after 15 seconds of trying.

i've enabled ports 25,587,993 in my ufw firewall setup

i've forwarded the ports 25, 587 and 993 in my internet modem to the correct machine.

also, when sending email from roundcube, it fails to connect to the smtp server.

i'd love to see these issues resolved soon..

Re: can't receive email from external sources

UPDATE :

when trying to send mail through Thunderbird from my iRedMail installation,
i get the following :

Sending of the message failed.
Unable to communicate securely with peer: requested domain name does not match the server’s certificate.
The configuration related to smtp.nicer.app must be corrected.

downside to this informative error message is that i have no idea on how to correct this situation.. sad
could it be that parts of iRedMail expect mail.nicer.app, while thunderbird uses smtp.nicer.app?
i did instruct Thunderbird to use STARTTLS as the means to connect to SMTP.

Re: can't receive email from external sources

UPDATE :

when i try to connect via https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
to port 25 on my outside IP address,

i get an error message that the port is not open.

Re: can't receive email from external sources

UPDATE : i've also checked my settings at my ISP's service page.. even when i tell it to block no ports at all, https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ still reports port 25 as being blocked.

Re: can't receive email from external sources

UPDATE {SOLVED} : it could have been that the settings at my ISP's service page took longer to filter through.

i can now connect to port 25 from the outside, as well as receive email from the outside smile
