Topic: Mail delivery delayed 5-7 min

Can anyone help me with this please. I setup the new iRedMail on centOS and all went well, great project and saves a lot of time.. A LOT... But the problem Im having is it takes about 5-7 minutes for mail to be delivered to the users mailbox. Im doing tests with the www@mydomain.com account and when I send an email from gmail it get delivered right away, when I send it from aol it takes 7 minutes for delivery when I send it from email server I currently have hosting with it takes 5 minutes for delivery. I analyzed the header data and according to the header it sits for that time already at the mail server, so my question is why is it taking so long for delivery to the user mailbox, is it due to the anti virus or spam scanner? But still why so long? If its a default time delay can it be changed to 30sec? But than why are gmail emails delivered right away with no delay. Thanx in advance

It's caused by greylisting, a spam check method. Reference:

Gralyslist states that once a mail server retries again than the mail server info will ve moved to white list for fast delivery anytime after that, this is not the case in my case even after multiple times of sending the email the delay still happens. Is that just how it will always be?

Same issue here, however I notice the delay for me is with Alias accounts. So if I make an alias that forwards to another "real" mailbox on my domain, it will do the same as the original poster states: I it will sit for 5-7 minutes before being delivered to the mailbox. Why is this?
