Hi All,

Before a first install i'd like to confirm something.

The installation instructions specify that that the first email domain must not be the same as the server domain. Does this mean it can be anything as it's used by postmaster only ?

e.g. :
server = mail.mydomain.org
mx = mail.mydomain.org
1st email = anything.mydomain.org OR anything.anydomain.org

Also to be clear once setup, I can then create domain email accounts for any of my domains as long as the mx record(s) point to the mail.domain.org server ?

Just want to be clear before continuing.

Thanks

Re: 1st install confusion

The first account will be used to manage your iRedMail server, yes. It is, normally, postmaster@mydomain.org (using the examples you use).

You cannot simply create domain email accounts for any of your domains as long as the MX records exist, no. There is more to it. See: https://www.linuxbabe.com/mail-server/s … ins-nginx. You might not need all the steps described on that page, but some you must.
