we changed the paths for creating INDEX

It was
mail_location = maildir:% Lh / Maildir /: INDEX =% Lh / Maildir /
location = maildir: %% Lh / Maildir /: INDEX = %% Lh / Maildir / Shared / %% Ld / %% Ln

Changed to
mail_location = maildir:% Lh / Maildir /: INDEX = / var / vmail-indexes /% Lh / Maildir /
location = maildir: %% Lh / Maildir /: INDEX = / var / vmail-indexes / %% Lh / Maildir / Shared / %% Ld / %% Ln /
no indexes are created along the path

Changed to MEMORY indexes are created in the old way
mail_location = maildir:% Lh / Maildir /: INDEX = MEMORY
location = maildir: %% Lh / Maildir /: INDEX = MEMORY

please tell me how to take out indexes from shared storage, and what we are doing wrong.
