====

After upgrading to 1.5.1 and Debian 11, I keep getting the following error in my logs when it is processing emails.

postfix/amavis/smtp[16468]: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:10024: Connection refused)

along with the following on individual messages

postfix/error[16473]: 4JhXPq3NBZzJr7v: to=<root@mail.my.domain>, orig_to=<root>, relay=none, delay=286363, delays=286363/0.17/0/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:10024: Connection refused)

When I restart amavis, it will work for a little bit (sometimes 2 or 3 queue clears) and then stop again. I see no other errors in syslog or mail.log regarding this. Amavis status shows "Inactive (dead)" when checking it.

If there are any other logs needed please let me know.

As @Cthulhu mentioned, it's very possible that your server is lack of memory to keep ClamAV running peacefully.

Please either increase memory, or follow this tutorial to reduce the concurrently processed emails:
