====

I installed iRedMail on a droplet on DigitalOcean. But no matter what I do, cannot get it to send or receive e-mails.

First, I sent an email to the user's own mail address.
Then to the postmaster, then to another user on another mail server.

None of them were received.

I have attached logs.

What should I do now?

DigitalOcean blocks port 25 and will not unblock it even if you ask them. Your only choice is to either use SMTP relay service like Sendinblue or use another hosting provider

But I opened a support ticket and they sent me an e-mail informing that there is no such restriction:

While some accounts may have restrictions for SMTP traffic, I have confirmed that there are no blocks on your account. You should be able to successfully send an email with any mail server applications you choose to install, configure, and manage on your Droplets.

That can't be a lie, can it?

Well that's new. I didn't know they have changed that. Please excuse me.

It might not be that new:
https://docs.digitalocean.com/support/w … p-blocked/

I have sent them and email complaining that blocking ANY port for ANY reason is ridiculous since people are paying for the privilege of having their own server and public IP address.

If the service user is doing something wrong, the service provider cannot be blamed, right?

Well, be in mind that they own those IP addresses and you are only using them for a limited time. They don't want those IP addresses blacklisted as spam or hacking stuff. Once a user of their service decides to quit, they want to reuse the IP address for another customer. No one would buy a flagged as malicious IP address would they? They are trying to preserve their reputation.

IP addresses don't commit crimes, people do, and it is possible to lift a ban on one. I installed an e-mail server for a mid-sized company, and the static IP address they had turned out to be black-listed by a well-known black-lister.

Fortunately, that was not an issue sending mails to known mail providers, and I was able to de-black-list the IP by providing them with some public DNS and company info.

Re: iRedMail can neither send, nor receive mail.

It turned out that Digital Ocean was not to be blamed in the first place.

Since I had very limited amount of memory (i.e. 930 Mbs), the e-mails could not get through clamav or spamassassin. I turned both off and rebooted the machine. Now it works.

But this time, Outlook tells me that I cannot send mails to their servers on because it is blocked. Is there any way to fix that?

Re: iRedMail can neither send, nor receive mail.

You should post more details, like:
- Which port do you use with Outlook to send out mail? Do you use submission port 587? Is that port open?
- What do the logs on the server tell you?
- What is the exact error message in Outlook, with details?

I saw your post today, sorry for the late reply.

I got another server from another service provider and now it works. Thank you.
