I posted this to the nextcloud forum but they told me it's a mail issue, not nextcloud. I get errors when trying to add my email in my nextcloud profile and send a test email. Nextcloud is installed via the official VM image. I've tried both SSL and STARTTLS. I've attached screenshots of the errors. I found this old post of someone who seemed to be having the same problem as me. topic16455-phpmail-unable-to-connect-with-tls-encryption

See attached for the error messages and the nextcloud log error. My email server works great otherwise.

Did you install true SSL cert with Let's Encrypt on your iRedmail?
If not then try to import iRedmail cert to trusted on Nextclound server

I did not. All SSL termination for my servers are handled via nginx proxy manager on a separate server within my network.

The iredmail server is self signed and proxied via https through my proxy server.

If I need to import the cert into nextcloud, would it be the iredmail server self-signed cert or the proxy certbot cert?

Any error in Postfix log file (/var/log/maillog) on iRedMail server?
