Good evening folks. Ive got a situation where have another server , separate from my email server (email server has iredmail on it), and i need this other server to send an email from the terminal every day (its a basic cronjob that ive got running). This other server is a pretty basic and stripped down box with 1 gb of ram. It cant run iredmail but it can do some pretty basic functions as it has ubuntu 22 LTS installed. That said, im not sure what the best approach is. Should i relay the mail through the iredmail server, or should I install certs, etc on that server and set it up to send. last option is to just scp the file over to the iredmail server, but im not sure if there is a way to send an email from the iredmail server over the terminal.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Relay the emails via the iRedmail-server.

This guide explains it, just adapt the hostname to yours instead of gmail.
