Hi all. I have an Ubuntu 20.04 installed one year ago, regularly updated.
php -v  displays PHP 7.4.3
I always followed upgrade tutorials, but never read instructions to update PHP to version 8.

Now, last version of roundcube need it, but some issues are still not solved.

The question is:  when will it be safe to upgrade PHP to version 8?
and, will it be mentioned in upgrade tutorials, to run it in the safest possible way?

Thanks.

Re: [Ubuntu 20.04] upgrade php7 to php8.

RC 1.6.0:

PHP 8.1 support
Dropped support for PHP < 7.3

https://forum.iredmail.org/topic19232-i … eased.html

Updated packages
Roundcube webmail -> 1.5.3.

1.6.0 doesn't work very well with PHP-8, mostly compatibility warnings, to avoid confusion for sysadmins, we decided to postpone it.

So why you want to change PHP Version?

Re: [Ubuntu 20.04] upgrade php7 to php8.

-iRedMail uses php offered by Linux vendor (yum / apt), i personally don't recommend to upgrade php separately.
- Roundcube 1.6.0 still has some compatibility issues, i suggest wait for Roundcube-1.6.1  or even 1.6.2.
