Topic: Debian 12 Support

(Sorry, I hate "to be that guy", but here goes)

Currently running iRedMail 1.6.1 on a Debian 10 install and need to look at migrating away from it using the migration process - https://docs.iredmail.org/migrate.to.ne … erver.html

Now that Debian 12 has been released, will it be supported going forward or would I be better served going to a container based install?

I'm not asking "when" for Debian 12 - I'm sure you are looking - just "if"...

Thanks

Re: Debian 12 Support

What you mean by "will it be supported going forward"

Debian 10 has dropped, new installs are not possible anymore, and even 11 -> 12 has some changes

amavisd-new -> amavis
php 7.4 -> php 8.2
pgsql 13 -> 15
netcat -> netcat-obenbsd

And for 12, SoGo is not yet available

Re: Debian 12 Support

With the industry moves to containerisation to allow for simple application deployment (see https://www.docker.com/resources/what-container/) and given that iRedMail is already available in docker form as a beta  - https://hub.docker.com/r/iredmail/mariadb

I wanted to see if iRedMail is going to be supported to be installed ‘natively’ on Debian 12 (as in the way it’s currently installed and supported on Debian 10 and 11) or whether a container based release model is going to be followed from now on.

Containers bring a lot to the table, see my first link above.

I’m happy either way – iRedMail is a great product and I’ve been running it for over a decade smile

Re: Debian 12 Support

i didn't fully understand your question
if you were asking, if debian 12 is/will be supported:
https://github.com/iredmail/iRedMail

it is already supported and tested to work by me personally
