Hi iRed team,

I am running this iRedmail server for the last few years, since 2018. It is running well without any issue so far. This is a home setup with 5 email accounts.

Now I want to migrate this to newer version but based on Docker for easy version upgrade later on and ease of installation. I want to use Ubuntu 22.04 as the hosting server.

Can I please know whether there is a document describing the migration steps?

I am comfortable with docker and looked at here https://github.com/iredmail/dockerized and https://hub.docker.com/r/iredmail/mariadb I understand this is a BETA EDITION but it works well

I would like to know what are the folders to copy for email migration to new server.

I see my email stores are in folder ":/var/vmail/vmail1/<domain>" and I would like to know whether I should copy only this folder for emails to migrate to new server.

Should I map like this after copying the email to "/var/vmail/vmail1"?
"iredmail_mailboxes:/var/vmail/vmail1"

Any other details on docker based installs will be great to know.

Awaiting your reply.

Mathew

Re: iRedmail v0.9.9 move to iredmail docker

My honest opinion is that iRedMail docker image is more hard to customize, not updated and thus not recommended for production. On top of that there is already a new docker image in development, which is in alpha
https://github.com/iredmail/dockerized/issues/137

My suggestion is to use the downloadable installer or if you want it easy - go for paid iRedMail easy platform for deployment.

Re: iRedmail v0.9.9 move to iredmail docker

https://github.com/iredmail/dockerized/ is out of date and not under active development, please do not try it. Actually, it's always marked as "not stable", but people still trying it in production. sad

Running iRedMail on VM, VPS, physical server is the easiest solution, no additional administration skills (e.g. Docker) required. With upcoming "iRedMail Enterprise", it will be a lot easier.
