Here's an odd one. I was doing fine yesterday. All emails working no big deal. Today I log in and was looking for an email I received yesterday. It was not there. So, I saw that of the 100 or so messages I receive, I only had about 10. And that went for all the days as of yesterday. Today it is still all find. Getting all my messages. Looking at the logs don't see anything odd. Permissions are find on the vmail folder. DB is up and running. I thought it could be my local email, so I tried with another one, same. Then with Roundcube, same. Messages seem to be really gone.

dovecot log is really small. Just shows my reboot.

Any ideas? I'm completely puzzled!
How do I check stored messages?

Doh! Found my problem. I have a script I wrote that uses doveadm to expunge messages. It had with " " so it killed a lot of messages. However, these didn't show up in the logs. I do have snapshot backups. Is it just a matter of putting them back in the proper vmail1 account?

Yes, and don't forget to set correct owner/group (vmail:vmail) and permission (0700).
