Topic: Debian 13

Just wondering when Iredmail will be supporting Debian 13, full stable release has been out for a month nearly and we are testing it as a future platform so was surprised when we couldn't install Iredmail.

Re: Debian 13

Upcoming iRedMail Enterprise Edition supports Debian 13 (and Dovecot 2.4), but iRedMail doesn't, it may take some more time.

BTW, SOGo team doesn't offer binary packages for Debian 13 (And CentOS Stream 10) yet. https://bugs.sogo.nu/view.php?id=6145

How long will it approximately take? We are eagerly waiting

Re: Debian 13

I cannot tell you a ETA yet, we want to wait for SOGo team to offer binary packages for Debian 13 first.

Re: Debian 13

Sogo is not so important to ourselves, not sure what percentage of users use Sogo over Gmail/outlook etc which we have found better integration for imap usage.
If Sogo is not yet supporting debian 13 how is Iredmail enterprise supporting Debian 13 without Sogo?

Would you mind sharing your solution?

SOGo is just an optional component offered by EE, so when you run EE on Debian 13, you can install other components but no SOGo available.

With multiple devices ping individual mail boxes it always makes sense to use imap, both gmail and outlook client allow alias/integration using external domain named email accounts, not sure on 365 which we don't use.

I think it will take a long time to wait for the SOGo team to release it. Maybe it would be better to make the iRedMail release with a note [3]. wink

Seems SOGo team is working on it:

We can wait a few more months until they get everything fixed smile

Can I install it on Debian 13 using the downloadable installer without SOGo?

No. Dovecot 2.4 shipped by Debian 13 doesn't work yet, iRedMail generates config file for Dovecot 2.3, it's incompatible with 2.4. But iRedMail Enterprise Edition generates for both 2.3 and 2.4.

Lucky ones who have a subscription to EE smile

Re: Debian 13

I looked into it. Will the downloadable iRedMail installer support Debian 13 - Dovecot? Or is the project no longer maintained?

Re: Debian 13

I know there's many concerns about debian 13 support (i do too but i'm using ubuntu 24 with another email stack solution.) But my question is, will you devs support ubuntu 26 in the future once debian 13 support is done?

WhoAmI68 wrote:

I don't think so. Because the other email stack solution i mentioned also stays on debian 12 base image for a while (i think you get the idea what that email solution is,) due to the usual nature of volunteer based open source projects like this.

Sure we will support new distribution releases, including Debian 13.

What are you talking about ...

Sure we will support Ubuntu 26. No worries.

Re: Debian 13

By the way, iRedMail Enterprise Edition ("EE" for short) supports Debian 13, which means we get Dovecot 2.4 working, and the new config is compatible with Dovecot 2.3 machines.

EE can easily generate new Dovecot config file with one click, but for downloadable iRedMail installer, admins have to update config files manually, we're thinking about how to handle this upgrade smoothly, this is part of the delay.

Another issue is SOGo team doesn't offer binary packages for Debian 13 yet, since SOGo offers caldav/carddav/activesync which are very important to our users, we'd like to wait for some more time until SOGo binary packages are available for Debian 13.
