Topic: Upgrading Debian 11 server to the latest version

iRedMail version: 1.6.1 MARIADB edition.
Linux: Debian 11
Store: Mysql
Web server: Nginx
iRedAdmin-Pro

Hello,

I need to upgrade my Debian 11 server, which is currently running iRedAdmin-Pro.

What is the correct procedure for such an upgrade? Is it sufficient to perform a standard OS upgrade (Debian 11 -> Debian 12 -> Debian 13), or are there additional iRedMail/iRedAdmin-Pro specific steps that need to be taken?

My main priority is to keep all current configurations, settings, and mailbox contents intact, ensuring the transition is as smooth and quick as possible.

I would highly appreciate your guidance and advice on this matter.

FYI

https://docs.iredmail.org/upgrade.debian.12-13.html

Another upgrade path which is highly recommended since you own a valid iRedAdmin-Pro license, and it's qualified to get an iRedMail Enterprise Edition ("EE" for short) license for free. FYI https://forum.iredmail.org/topic20762-a … omers.html

- Migrate to EE in place on current Debian 11 server. FYI https://docs.iredmail.org/iredmail.to.ee.html
- Upgrade OS release to Debian 12, make sure MariaDB service is running after OS upgrade.
- Login to EE as global admin, click `Deployments` -> `Re-perform full deployment` to (re-)generate config files for new software offered by new OS release. You may want to run it for several days to make sure all services are working as expected.
- Upgrade OS release to Debian 13, make sure MariaDB service is running after OS upgrade.
- Again, login to EE as global admin, click `Deployments` -> `Re-perform full deployment`.

No need to update config files manually since EE handles all for you.

Re: Upgrading Debian 11 server to the latest version

So, I understand that I first install the EE version. Then I upgrade the system to Debian 12. After upgrading to Debian 12, I run iRedAdmin updates from EE, and then I repeat the same process when upgrading to Debian 13?

I understand that I can obtain the EE license code before migrating?
