How would one change from ldap based to mysql based server without losing GIGS of data

Sorry, what does "GIGS" mean?

We have no tools to help admin migrate from LDAP to MySQL (or MySQL to LDAP), but if you plan to migrate it, post questions here and we will work together to fix them.

I have about 14GB email to migrate

That's not a problem. Just make sure mailboxes are copied to correct location.
