Good afternoon,
I would like to set up a mail server to act as an alerting system for a network. Some of the monitoring tools and utilities I am looking at have the ability to send email but not authenticate, or have insecure methods to save passwords.
Just to make this easier I am thinking about having an unauthenticated email account for such alerts on a server with no internet access, used only for this purpose. It would simply be emails passing to and from "alerts@mynetwork.local" with messages such as "Low free disk space on fileserver" etc.
Could anyone advise how I might do this? When creating a new email user a password is required. Thanks in advance and regards.
