Hi Zhang,

I'm confused about the information at https://docs.iredmail.org/change.mail.a … .size.html . At the top it states, "To change mail attachment size, we have to change 3 settings." It then explains a setting in /etc/postfix/main.cf. Currently I have set that to the default of 15 MB. In the "Change message size limit in postfix" section it has a note about Dovecot, but no instructions on what needs to be changed in its configuration. I don't see an obvious reference in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf that refers to "size" or "limit".

Back to the "3 settings"; there are six headings related to Postfix, Roundcube (and 2 headings under that), Nginx, SoGo and Outlook. Is the "3 settings" old text that just needs to be updated, and refers to that list, or are some instructions missing?

Lastly, do I understand correctly from https://forum.iredmail.org/topic12842-d … -size.html that "message_size_limit" in main.cf overrides anything set in iRedAdmin-Pro at Domains & Accounts -> DOMAIN -> Throttling? In other words, if the limit set in iRedAdmin-Pro is higher than the limit in main.cf, it will have no effect?

Thanks.

Craig

Re: Mail attachment size

Hi Zhang,

Thanks. That's mostly clearer.

I understand the difference between Postfix and Dovecot, but as I understand it the size of the mail box is controlled in iRedAdmin and iRedAdmin-Pro, and there's no need to change the configuration of Dovecot itself. Right?

And can you confirm the answer to my question in the last paragraph about iRedAdmin-Pro?

Thanks.

Correct.

Both Postfix and iRedAPD (it checks single message size if you set throttle settings with iRedAdmin-Pro) check the size of single message (i will update doc to mention iRedAPD later), if the size reaches the limit of one of them, then it will be rejected.

OK, so essentially the lower of the two limits -- Postfix and iRedAPD/iRedAdmin-Pro -- prevails. Got it.

Thanks.
