The current distribution version of PHP on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is PHP7.2. There is nothing wrong with running this version, as security patches are still applied regardless of version (on main distros like Fedora, Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc). If that is your worry, there is nothing to be worried about.
